Black Frog Brewery Taproom Update

Chris Harris, owner and brewmaster of Black Frog Brewing is opening his Black Frog Brewing Taproom by the end of Summer.
Chris tells us that the Black Frog Brewing Taproom will be around 1,100 square feet and will be a local neighborhood hangout; perfectly suited to relax after a long day of work with some of the best local beer in Northwest Ohio.
This week, we here at the Brew Review Crew were fortunate enough to be able to have a phone conversation with Chris as part of our Brew Review Interview segment on our On Tap podcast.
In our half hour conversation, Chris and I spoke about the growth of Black Frog Brewery, juggling a full-time career with brewing and distributing, and some fun and interesting beers he is planning on brewing.
Fall 2016 Update
We attended the Black Frog Brewery's opening weekend. It was packed on a Saturday afternoon. The building is small and cozy.
I enjoy the beer that Chris brews. He offers many low IBU options. Not everyone enjoys the highly hopped beers.
The taproom is open on weekends only, since Chris has a full-time job elsewhere.
The taproom is located in Holland or Springfield Township. It's nowhere near West Toledo.

February 2017 Update

Black Frog owner Chris Harris is featured this month on the Ohio secretary of state website. Minority owners are being recognized throughout the month of February. Mr. Harris is the only African-American craft brewery owner in the area and one of a few in the country. His brewery’s profile can be found at: bit.ly/2kmUZmL

When Chris Harris received a Mr. Beer kit as a gift, he was excited to start a new hobby. He never imagined it would lead to him becoming an entrepreneur. Yet today the Toledo native is blazing a trail as one of the only African-American brewers of craft beer in the country.
“Once I started making beer it became my passion,” explains Harris. “There’s an old adage that says time flies when you’re having Black Frog Brew Owner fun. That applies to me when I’m making beer. I just really, really love it.”
