Note: Beer brewing idea - 26Jul2016
This morning, Tue, Jul 26, 2016, Deb had an idea for a beer that we should brew even though we have not brewed since spring of last year. We still have a gruit kit that we need to brew, but that will have to remain on hold. Deb's idea is different.
Our idea for a beer:
- name = Gabby's Gold
- need bottle labels
- will give beer to family, which means using 12-ounce bottles
- style = summer wheat
- size = two-gallon
- type = extract
- recipe = use Tom from Titgemeier's recipe.
Tom said that he likes to make a wheat beer with an all-extract method. His store sells an extract mix with barley and wheat. Tom said the key is the German yeast. He recommended a yeast type, but I don't remember the name.
Plan:
- brew in the first week of August 2016
- two week fermentation and then bottle
- week or two later, try it, still in August, hopefully
CP is expecting her fast child soon. The due date is early September, but nobody expects her to go full term. I'm guessing that the baby will be born between Aug 15 and 20, inclusive.
CP and Brad know it's a girl, and they have told us the name, which will be Gabrielle. Nickname will be Gabby.
The wheat fields in northwest Ohio are harvested in July. August is still summer, and early August is close to the month of the main harvest time for wheat. That's are goofy rationale for choosing a Summer Wheat beer to brew.
